Welcome to The Pheasant, the award-winning country pub, restaurant and hotel on the Essex/Suffolk border.
The Pheasant at Gestingthorpe AA Pub of the Year for England 2014/15. The winners of this prestigious award stand out as truly excellent all-round pubs or inns. They successfully combine the provision of enjoyable food, comfortable accommodation, a great pub atmosphere and a warm welcome with a high standard of management.
Guests arriving for a refreshing drink, delicious dinner, or peaceful overnight stay in our pub with rooms soon see that comfort and quality are served as standard. We have created a warm and inviting restaurant, serving freshly prepared, locally sourced regional food. Comfortable chairs, beautiful oak tables and an open fire create an intimate and friendly atmosphere. We want our guests to know where they are in the country, and what time of year it is when it comes to our menu.

Nestled on the Essex/Suffolk border, with views over the surrounding countryside, The Pheasant country pub has a boutique hotel, inspired by historical local icons. The hotel rooms are named after local notable people to celebrate East Anglia?s heritage and figures such as Thomas Gainsborough, John Constable are well known but we also wanted to celebrate lesser known people who have strong connections to the area such as Mark Catesby, Samuel Courtauld and Capt Lawrence Oates.
